Laine is a high-quality Nordic knit & lifestyle magazine for knit folks.

"We cherish natural fibres, slow living, local craftsmanship, and beautiful, simple things in life. Our intention is to inspire you to gather and share, to be part of a community of like-minded knitters, makers and thinkers from near and far. Knitting is more than just knit, knit, purl. It is a feeling."

164 pages uncoated, high-quality paper, in english.

Description

Laine 28, Open Water, takes you on a boat trip to the sunny Baltic Sea: to sun-warmed cliffs, rocky beaches and balmy pine forests. The photos have a lovely retro touch, adding to the easygoing vibe. This abundant issue features 15 knits from international designers. You will find T-shirts and tops worked in summery yarns, as well as sweaters and cardigans that double as outerwear in the warmer months.

It includes:

  • 15 knitting patterns: 4 sweaters, 2 cardigans, 3 T-shirts, 2 tops, 1 vest, 2 shawls, 1 pair of socks.
  • An interview with the Finnish knitwear designer Ronja Hakalehto (@ronjahakalehto), who leads a busy family life in a small village close to the Arctic Circle, enjoying the wild nature and solitude.
  • A new Favourites section with inspiring little stories, tips, products, reviews and ideas! We visit the Stephen & Penelope yarn shop in Amsterdam and get style inspiration from Aleksandra Solowianiuk (@vert.and.rose).
  • The Five Ways article, where four experts share their favourite tools and notions for a knitter.
  • Jeanette Sloan’s (@jeanettesloan) renewed column, where she writes about her evolving identity as a designer.

Designers featured in this issue: Eun Mi Ahn, Fiona Alice, Autumn Buggs, Nicola Furey, Maria Gomes, Olivia Glennon, Anna Hechtman, Meiju Kallio, Pauliina Leisti, Lisa Meissner, Klara Nilsson, Sara Ottosson, Sanni Pauliina, Marie Régnier and Cata Rubke.

Note on the pattern: Vacilando captures the Spanish spirit of wandering and carefree exploration with its geometric basketweave pattern, where shifting directions evoke the many paths of a meandering journey. This comfortable vest is worked bottom-up in three panels, letting the soft texture of a plant-based yarn blend highlight the pattern’s visual interest. Straightforward construction keeps the piece relaxed and wearable, while a charming picot edging adds a sweet finishing touch. Vacilando is a versatile layer that works just as well over a summer dress or with your favourite jeans.
