Description

One skein, 52 possibilities!

52 Weeks of One-Skein Knits — the ninth volume in Laine Publishing’s hugely popular 52 Weeks series — celebrates the joy and versatility of a single skein of yarn. The book’s 51 knitting patterns and one crochet design come from talented designers around the world, and each project uses no more than 100 grams of yarn. The collection includes hats, socks, shawls, cowls, collars, hoods, headbands, mitts and mittens, worked in techniques ranging from lace and cables to ribbing and textured stitches. There are plenty of approachable projects for beginners, too.

The patterns are created by the following designers: Ashley Adams, Saara Autere, Maria Bach Jensen, Ronja Beckmann, Rachel Brockman, Kitti Dragonoff, Agnieszka Dzikiewicz-Krawczyk, Jaana Etula, Georgia Farrell, Joanna Filip, Alessandra Gropazzi, Anna Hechtman, Vilma Holm, Nina Holubcova, Emilia Jensen, Yun Jeong, Anniina Juuti, Henna Ketonen, Milena Krzemińska, Géraldine Lavaud, Sarianna Lehtonen, Justyna Lorkowska, Linda Lötberg, Sara Markkula, Laura McLean, Elina Männistö, Elizabeth Nicodemus, Imogen O’Brien, Sara Ottosson, Sanni Pauliina, Riikka Peltola, Gala Pillot, Iida Pirinen, Camille Romano,

CONSTRUCTION

The beanie is worked top down in Stockinette Stitch and 1x1 rib. Stitches for the top of the crown are cast on using the Long-Tail CO method. The work begins with a few of short rows, after which stitches for the other side of the crown are picked up and knitted along the CO edge. Short rows are then worked on the other side as well. After this, the work continues in the round, and increases are worked at the sides as well as the front and back of the beanie. Once the increases are complete, Stockinette Stitch is worked until the start of the brim, which is worked in 1x1 rib. The brim is folded double (or triple, if customized), and the beanie is finished with a tassel (optional).

Hard cover. Printed in Latvia.
