This sweater captures that feeling of evening turning into night. Ilta sweater is worked from the top down, shoulders are shaped with short rows for a good fit. The generous sizing makes this sweater lovely to wear. And simple sweaters like this just are my favorites."

SIZES

Finished chest circumference: 38 (42, 46, 50, 54) (58, 62, 66, 70)” [95 (105, 115, 125, 135) (145, 155, 165, 175) cm].
Choose a size with approx. 6–10” [15–25 cm] of positive ease. Sample knitted in size 4.
YARN:
5 (5, 5, 5, 6) (6, 6, 7, 7) skeins of Gilliatt by De Rerum Natura (100% Merino Wool; 270 yds [250 m] /100g) or approx. 1120 (1190, 1260, 1340, 1420) (1510, 1600, 1690, 1770) yds [1025 (1090, 1150, 1225, 1300) (1380, 1465, 1545, 1620) m] of worsted weight yarn. Sample shown in color "doré" (pictures 1 to 6 ) and "poivre blanc" (pictures 7 and 8).
GAUGE:
12 sts and 40 rows = 4” [10 cm] in Brioche rib stitch using larger needles, unstretched, after blocking.
Before you measure, please take the time to wash and block your swatch in the same manner that you will wash and block your sweater.
NEEDLES:
US 8 [5 mm] and US 6 [4 mm] circular needles, 32” [80 cm] long or longer, and dpns in same sizes if not using magic loop method for small circumference knitting.
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
